A Note From the Publishers – September 2024
The Santa Clarita Valley was recently named the 8th safest place to live in the country, a recognition that underscores the exceptional quality of life this community offers. Safety is more than just a statistic; it reflects a community’s strength, unity, and dedication to the well-being of its residents. Santa Clarita’s commitment to fostering a safe environment is evident in the diverse and impactful events that bring people together and strengthen the bonds of community.
This month on our cover, we are happy to feature three standout events that showcase the heart of Santa Clarita’s community spirit:
On September 21st, the JCI Santa Clarita will host the Veteran’s Resource Fair at William S. Hart Park. This event is designed to provide veterans and their families with essential resources, from job placement assistance to health and wellness services. Local businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies will be present, ensuring that veterans have access to the support they need. The event, running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is free and open to all, highlighting the community’s commitment to honoring and supporting its veterans.
On September 28th, the Hyatt Regency Valencia will host the annual Soroptimist International of Valencia’s “Bras for a Cause” event. This year’s theme, “Denim & Diamonds,” symbolizes the strength and elegance inherent in the women the organization supports. The event will feature a unique auction of 14 bras, each a creative masterpiece representing stories of strength and survival. This evening promises to be both glamorous and impactful, with all proceeds supporting programs that empower women and girls in the community.
On October 7th, Sand Canyon Country Club will be the venue for Family Promise’s Fifth Annual Golf Tournament. With Supervisor Kathryn Barger as the $10,000 Title Sponsor, the event aims to raise funds to support families facing homelessness in the Santa Clarita Valley. Family Promise has been a cornerstone of support since 2011, offering shelter, resources, and case management to those in need. This tournament is more than just a day on the green; it’s an opportunity for the community to come together and make a tangible difference in the lives of local families.
These events not only celebrate the resilience and generosity of Santa Clarita’s residents but also reinforce why this valley is recognized as one of the safest and most supportive places to live. Whether it’s through honoring our veterans, empowering women, or aiding families in need, Santa Clarita continues to shine as a model community.
