Vote to Re-Elect Kathye Armitage for SCV Water Board
Kathye cares: A voice for her neighbors, not just corporations.
Since elected in 2020, I have been the voice of my neighbors and fellow community members to ensure the things you care about are being discussed.
SAFE WATER: One current issue top of mind for many in our community is the Chiquita Canyon Landfill, and I have been advocating for additional testing in the area to ensure our drinking water is safe. I also fully support the projects needed to clean up contaminants found in some of the wells in our valley (which were deactivated until contamination removal equipment is installed.)
AFFORDABILITY: With consumer and business costs rising everywhere, I have been sensitive to how budgetary changes translate to our water rates. I continue to advocate for the agency to keep a Ratepayer Advocate available as a resource for board members and ratepayers, support efforts to get polluters to pay for contamination clean-up, and work to ensure that customers are not unfairly burdened with unreasonable costs.
RELIABLE WATER: Long-term reliability of our water is critical for our valley’s residents and businesses as well as our natural areas that we all enjoy. I advocate for strategies to keep our water resources more sustainable and for ways that we can be less dependent on imported water. I also advocate for tight cybersecurity and physical security, as well as disaster preparedness to keep our water safe and flowing at all times.
EXPERIENCE: I combine my 21 years of residency in Santa Clarita with my education and experience in the fields of Public Health, Sustainable Natural Resources/Sustainable Development, and Water Systems Technology to encourage balanced discussions about our valley’s water needs.
