The Brittany Foundation Finding Their Forever Home – November 2024
A non-profit humane organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of homeless dogs, has several dogs for adoption.
Waldo
After arriving here from the Palmdale shelter, we noticed Waldo was not tracking toys when people were playing with him. After many vet visits, it was confirmed that he had some serious issues with his sight. He had surgery to reattach both retinas. He will, however, always be farsighted, so he will need an understanding special-needs adopter who will help him navigate life this way. Waldo is silly, loves playing with other dogs, and is quite affectionate. Due to his farsightedness, we think it would be best if he were placed in an adult-only home. This young pup just needs a chance.
Ace
Itty bitty Ace lived with an unhoused person for the first 6 months of his life and then was rehomed to someone who just dumped him on a busy road in Acton a few weeks ago. He is not even a year old and has never had a stable home. We call him itty bitty because he’s so petite, just 25 pounds. He definitely has Heeler in him, maybe Rat Terrier, but your guess is as good as ours. He’s sweet, a little shy, and we are certain he would make the most loyal companion if just given the chance. You must check out his videos on our Instagram page. He looks like a big dog, but he’s so small.
Sadie
She spent the critical first few months of her life trying to survive on the streets of Los Angeles with a pack of other dogs. When she was rescued, she was given to a foster that was not prepared to welcome a young pup into her home, which is how she ended up here. She is currently living in a foster home in Acton, is potty-trained, loves long walks and running around in the yard. So far she has been pretty nervous around other dogs, so her foster family is working with her; otherwise, she is doing amazing in her foster home.
Moe
A senior stray, Moe found himself at the Castaic Shelter in August before we welcomed him here. He lives here at The Ranch with Clarence, Frank, Spice, Scotty, Dixie, and Larry, some of our other little pups.
He couldn’t care less about going for a walk, keeps his space here super tidy, and just wants a quiet and peaceful home to live out his golden years. One last thing, cats are a big “no”. Believe it or not he becomes an Olympic sprinter when he sees one.
Clarence
This saucy old senior found himself at the Castaic shelter as a stray and quickly stole the hearts of the volunteers, who just could not bear to see him in the noisy shelter. Fortunately, at the time, we were in a position to welcome him here to The Ranch. He spends his days hanging out with Moe, Larry, and Spice. He is experiencing the typical senior stuff; eyes are a little glossy and his hearing is not perfect although he can hear a food wrapper from 3 rooms away. We would love to see him live out his golden days in the comfort of a home surrounded with love.
Dixie
Dixie is ready for her next adventure. We think a home with another small pup or two would be great for her; she loves our other residents: Scotty and Frank. Admittedly, she is shy and will take some time to warm up. It would be ideal if a potential adopter could spend time with her here a few times to get to know her. Dixie is about 4 years old and weighs 13 pounds. She is here because she ended up at the Castaic shelter last year with another dog; that dog was adopted, and Dixie grew scared and withdrawn at the shelter and became a “rescue only”, so we welcomed her here. Dixie has come a long way and we know a loving and patient home with an experienced adopter is the next step for her. We are not saying it will be easy but we know she is worth it.
Vera
This sassy, fun-loving 8-year-old chihuahua lived in a home, then another home, then was surrendered to the Castaic shelter, where she was scared, struggling, and unfortunately given the “rescue only” tag, which means a rescue group had to pull her. Since she has been here with us, she is doing great. She is unbelievably athletic, smart, and quite affectionate.
Chip
He was running out of time at the Castaic shelter before we were able to welcome him here. But he has already been here for a year and a half. He is a playful American Bulldog mix, around two years old, and strong-willed. We are looking for experienced adopters and we will even cover the cost of Chip’s additional training to ensure a smooth transition.
