Experience the Intensity of Tosca: A Political Thriller at Mission Opera
Mission Opera invites you to immerse yourself in the intense world of Tosca, a political thriller set in the heart of Rome during the Napoleonic wars. Running from June 13 to June 15, 2025, at the Canyon High School Performing Arts Center, this opera will transport you to the summer of 1800, a time of political unrest, high stakes, and personal drama.
Tosca centers on three compelling characters: the passionate diva Floria Tosca, her lover Mario Cavaradossi, a painter and republican, and the villainous Baron Scarpia, Rome’s corrupt Chief of Police. When Scarpia learns of Cavaradossi’s involvement with an escaped political prisoner, he seizes the opportunity to manipulate Tosca, leveraging her love for Cavaradossi to extract vital information. But what begins as a battle for power quickly escalates into a dangerous game of life and death.
As the story unfolds over less than 24 hours, the tension builds to a heartbreaking climax, where Tosca is faced with an impossible decision: surrender herself to Scarpia or lose her lover forever. This thrilling opera explores themes of love, betrayal, and sacrifice, all set against the backdrop of political intrigue.
With a running time of 2 hours and 30 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission, Tosca is an unforgettable experience for opera lovers and newcomers alike. Ticket prices range from $28.22 for student/senior general admission to $69.82 for VIP seating, with accessible seating options available for those who need it.
Don’t miss your chance to witness this gripping masterpiece. All sales are final, so be sure to secure your seats early for an evening of unforgettable drama. For more information go to www.missionopera.com.
