A Note From the Publishers – May 2025
May is a month that invites us to slow down and appreciate all the beauty around us—from blooming flowers to meaningful celebrations with family and friends. In this issue of Santa Clarita Magazine, we’re proud to share the people, places, and events that continue to shape our incredible community.
We are especially honored to dedicate this issue to our dear friend, Diana Cusumano, who passed away last month after a courageous battle with cancer. Diana was a remarkable woman—graceful, artistic, and kind-hearted. I had the privilege of co-hosting a book club with her not long ago, and it was truly a joy. Her insights were thoughtful, her laughter was contagious, and her warmth touched everyone in the room. Beyond her love for books, Diana was also a talented artist and entrepreneur. Through her business, she hand-painted olive oil bottles, dipping dishes, wine glasses, and carafes—each piece a beautiful extension of her creative spirit. I am lucky to own several of her creations, which I will now treasure even more. Diana’s legacy lives on in the art she made and the lives she enriched. She will be dearly missed. As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she led and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. Diana’s memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the stories we share and the love we extend to others. Rest in peace, dear Diana. You will be deeply missed.
As we carry Diana’s memory with us, it feels especially meaningful to shine a light on others in our community who are also making a profound impact through compassion, dedication, and service.
On our cover this month, we proudly feature representatives from Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, and Frontier Toyota. Read more about the 52nd Annual Frontier Toyota / Henry Mayo Golf Classic, which is taking place on Saturday, May 10 at Valencia Country Club. This tournament raises vital funds for Emergency & Trauma Services—supporting life-saving work that impacts every resident of the Santa Clarita Valley. Read the story on page 16.
In this issue, we’re also excited to present our special Old Town Newhall section, spotlighting the wonderful restaurants, businesses, and nightlife that make Main Street such a vibrant destination. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing brunch, a handcrafted cocktail, or a unique shopping experience, there’s something magical waiting for you in Old Town Newhall.
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and we have plenty of local options to help you celebrate Mom in style. Our May edition is filled with inspiration. Valencia Town Center is hosting their own Mother’s Day celebration on May 10, complete with live music, sweet treats, and family-friendly activities—don’t miss it!
We’re also proud to support the Boys & Girls Club of SCV’s Big Easy Auction on May 31—a fun-filled evening with an important cause, benefiting thousands of children across the valley. Be sure to check out all the amazing events happening this month by flipping to our Calendar of Events on the last page!
Finally, we’ve included a helpful Medical Directory to connect you with trusted local professionals for all your healthcare needs.
As always, we want to thank our incredible advertisers and readers. Your continued support keeps this publication going strong. Santa Clarita is a special place—and that’s because of people like you.
With gratitude,
Linda, Moe & Alexander Hafizi
