Not Your Favorite? Well, It’s My Favorite Now! – Assistance League
As I was picking out what to wear this morning, I decided to put on my favorite sweatshirt. I think it’s so darn cute! It has a hood, cuffed sleeves and is a beautiful blue-grey color. I bought it at our shop for $7.00. It was brand new! It’s hard for me to think this wasn’t the donor’s favorite shirt.
I get it. I recently donated a brand-new sweater that looked so cute on-line but not so cute on me. Not my favorite! I did give it a chance but ended up choosing not to pay the return shipping. Now it’s at our shop. I bet it will look great on the customer who buys it. After all, it looked cute on the model. That’s why I ordered it!
On my dresser, I have a white porcelain box with delicate flowers on top. It’s my favorite because it reminds me of the one my mother had on her dresser while I was growing up. Whoever donated it must have thought, “Not my favorite,” and I am glad they felt that way!
Each week, our shop is filled with someone’s not favorite things. And each week, our customers find their new favorite things just like I did! How wonderful that we all have different tastes. I am also thankful that our community selects our Resale Store as the recipient of those not favorite things. Not favorite things have a way of delighting our customers, which in turns funds our philanthropic programs for our community.
So, I say, “Not your favorite? Well, it’s my favorite now!!!!
