A Message from American Cancer Society
To the Santa Clarita Community,
On behalf of the American Cancer Society, I extend my heartfelt thanks for your incredible support of this year’s Relay For Life of Santa Clarita Valley. Held on May 3rd at Central Park, this year’s event has already raised over $326,000 toward our $340,000 goal—as of this publication—and that number continues to grow.
Relay For Life, the world’s largest cancer-fighting fundraising movement, thrives because of communities like this one. This year, 79 teams came together to raise awareness and critical funds for cancer research and patient services. Special recognition goes to:
Team “got cure?” led by Kathleen Pavard and Carol Calkins, raising over $36,770
Team “Kemper Auto” led by Cindy Phillips, raising $13,527
Team “Bosom Buddies” led by Agnes Russell, raising $13,322
A heartfelt thank you to our 26-member Event Leadership Team—the driving force behind Relay. Your months of planning, coordination, and unwavering dedication ensured every detail was thoughtfully executed—from honoring survivors and organizing the luminaria ceremony to supporting every team’s success. Your leadership is the reason this event continues to thrive.
We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors and partners: UCLA Health, The Natural SKN Company, Keck Medicine of USC and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Frontier Toyota, Walmart, Kemper, Nusano, Boston Scientific, PhRMA, AMS Fulfillment, United Heritage Group, and California Credit Union.
And to our in-kind contributors: Execuprint, Sunbelt Rentals, Traffic Management, Southwest Traffic Corp, The Home Depot Foundation, and many more whose generosity made this event possible—thank you. There are more supporters than we can name here, but please know your contributions are deeply appreciated.
To the participants, the donors, the day of event volunteers, the supporters near and far, the entire Santa Clarita Valley community: Thank you. By being a part of Relay, you help fuel the mission of the American Cancer Society to fight every cancer, for every life. There is still work to be done and it’s never too late to get involved—visit www.scvrelay.org or call me at 661-855-4541 to learn more.
With sincere gratitude, Abby Smith
