A Note From the Publishers – September 2025
As summer winds down and we step into the fall season, I’m delighted to share another issue filled with events, stories, and community highlights that truly showcase the heart of Santa Clarita.
We’re especially excited about the four diverse events featured on our cover this month. On September 13, the Santa Clarita Veteran Services Collaborative will host their annual Marching On event at Santa Clarita Studios. With live music, a barbecue, and a silent auction, this special evening raises much-needed funds for local veterans and their families. That same evening, across town at the Hyatt Regency Valencia, Soroptimist International of Greater Santa Clarita Valley will present their 14th Annual Fashion Show and Boutique. Proceeds from this elegant event support the organization’s core programs, including Dream It, Be It, which provides mentorship and career guidance to local high school girls.
A week later, on September 20, JCI Santa Clarita hosts their 3rd Annual Veterans Resource & Job Fair at College of the Canyons. This impactful event offers resources, tools, and opportunities designed to help veterans and their families succeed in civilian life.
Looking a little further ahead to October 20, golf lovers will want to mark their calendars for the COC Golf Classic at Valencia Country Club. Proceeds benefit scholarships, emergency aid, and student services for College of the Canyons students.
Also making headlines, JCI received a record-breaking 110+ nominations for their always-popular 40 Under Forty program. The nominee mixer will take place on October 4 at Lucky Luke’s Brewery, followed by the main event on November 14 at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. Congratulations to all the nominees—it’s sure to be a challenge for the selection committee with such an impressive group of young local leaders.
On September 27, Soroptimist International of Valencia presents the 22nd Annual Bras for a Cause at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. This long-standing tradition promises a fun-filled evening while raising critical funds for breast cancer awareness and support. And if you’re passionate about the environment, don’t forget to sign up for the 30th Annual River Rally Cleanup and Environmental Expo. Volunteers must pre-register by September 19, so check out page 28 for details.
In this issue, we welcome Brandon Barclay, Santa Clarita’s new Chief of Police. With his dedication and leadership, our community is in very capable hands—read more about his story on page 40.
Don’t miss our Fall Home & Garden Directory, the perfect resource for finding trusted professionals to help with all your seasonal projects. And of course, our Calendar of Events on page 88 has everything you need to keep up with what’s happening around town.
A heartfelt thank you to all our contributors, advertisers, and readers who make every issue possible—we couldn’t do it without you.
One last reminder: don’t forget to vote for your favorites in our élite Magazine Ultimate Dining Awards before September 15. Scan the QR code to the left, or visit www.scvelitemagazine.com/ultimate-awards to cast your vote and help us celebrate the very best in Santa Clarita dining and entertainment.
Here’s to another season of connection, celebration, and community pride.
Until next time!
Sincerely, Linda, Moe and Alexander Hafizi
