Chrissy the Baboon: Queen Animal Tracks
She’s got attitude, a swing set, and more drama than a reality show—meet the real boss of Animal Tracks!
If Animal Tracks had a throne, Chrissy the baboon would be sitting on it—probably while snacking, side-eyeing the humans, and bouncing on her trampoline. Around the sanctuary, she’s lovingly known as “Boonie,” but make no mistake—this girl runs the place!
Chrissy arrived in January 2011 at just four years old, after being bullied by her baboon roommates at another facility. She may have been the odd one out back then, but today she’s the Queen of Everything (and don’t you forget it). A gorgeous mix of hamadryas and olive baboon, Chrissy’s daily routine includes strutting through the play yard, swinging like an Olympic gymnast, and reminding everyone she’s fabulous.
But behind the sass and sparkle, there’s a big, beautiful heart. For years, Chrissy carried around stuffed animals, clearly dreaming of being a mom. Then three years ago, her wish came true when Animal Tracks rescued a baby macaque named Bindi—who’d been kept illegally as a pet. The moment Chrissy met her, she knew: This one’s mine!
Of course, even queens need parenting lessons. With a little help from her human caretakers, Chrissy quickly figured it out. Now she’s a loving (and occasionally bossy) mom to her wild little girl. Bindi zooms around like she’s powered by caffeine, and Chrissy stays close behind, keeping chaos to a minimum… most of the time.
Visitors love watching their antics—one minute cuddles, the next, a playful scolding. Together, they’re the heartbeat of Animal Tracks and living proof that love and second chances can make the best families—fur, tails, and all!
Come see Chrissy, Bindi, and the rest of the wild crew yourself!
