Swinging for Student Success: COC Golf Classic Returns
The greens at Valencia Country Club will come alive on Monday, October 20, 2025, as the College of the Canyons (COC) Foundation hosts its highly anticipated Golf Classic. More than just a day on the fairways, this tournament fuels scholarships, emergency aid, and essential student services—lifelines that are increasingly critical as students face rising financial challenges.
“Every sponsorship, donation, and registration is an investment in our students’ futures,” says COC Foundation Chief Development Officer Monica Lee “ML” Copeland.
This year’s event carries extra momentum thanks to the leadership of Foundation Board Chair Gary Horton, who helped secure powerhouse title sponsors SiteOne® Landscape Supply and Hunter Industries, along with presenting sponsor Orion Risk Management, an Alera Group Company.
Golfers can look forward to a day packed with competition and fun. Fan favorites like the Cornhole Tournament return, along with a BMO Bank–sponsored helicopter ball drop and an air cannon to liven up play. For the first time, premium sponsors will enjoy the expertise of caddies from COC’s Men’s Golf Team, fresh off back-to-back state championships.
Tournament co-chairs T.L. Meyer and Shawn Fonder promise a seamless event filled with networking, camaraderie, and philanthropy. “This isn’t just golf,” says Executive Director Shawna Mann. “It’s a day where community members and business leaders come together to change lives.”
