Meet Frank the Tank – Animal Tracks
Meet Frank the Tank, the yellow armadillo who’s single-handedly redefining the word legend at Animal Tracks. He’s small, armored, and full of attitude — basically the love child of a basketball and a bulldozer!
Frank rolled into Animal Tracks in 2014 from another California sanctuary that, get this, had too many armadillos. (How that’s even a thing, we’ll never know.) But their loss became our daily comedy show!
This pint-sized powerhouse isn’t just adorable — he’s got game. Basketball is his passion. Give him a ball, point to the hoop, and watch the magic happen. If you drop the ball in, Frank will sprint up, leap like he’s in slow-motion SportsCenter highlights, and slam dunk it right back out. It’s part skill, part chaos, and 100% the funniest thing you’ll see all day. Move over, Steph Curry — Frank’s got claws and he’s not afraid to use them.
When he’s not dominating the court, Frank’s favorite hobby is what he calls “extreme relaxation.” He digs a shallow hole, flips upside down into it, and covers himself completely with dirt. The result? Two little legs and a tail sticking straight up like a yard decoration gone rogue. Visitors always panic — “Is he okay?!” — until he wiggles. Then everyone laughs, and Frank keeps snoozing like he owns the place!
As for love life? Forget it. Male armadillos are loners, and Frank’s the poster boy for bachelor bliss. We’ve joked about finding him a lady-dillo, but he’s too busy perfecting his layups and dust baths!
Frank might be covered in scales, but he’s pure gold when it comes to personality. Between his upside-down naps, his world-class dunks, and his dirt-facial routines, Frank the Tank has earned his title as the most unforgettable athlete in the sanctuary.
Next time you visit Animal Tracks, head toward the laughter — that’s probably Frank, warming up for another slam dunk…or taking a nap halfway through it.
