A Message from Congressman George Whitesides
One of the most important parts of my job as your Member of Congress is making sure our community gets its fair share of government resources. This year, when the time came to push for local investments in Washington, I advocated for projects that reflect the priorities I hear from residents, first responders, and local leaders every day.
Ultimately, our team brought home more than $15 million in federal funding to the Santa Clarita Valley, the AV, and the San Fernando Valley, and I want to walk you through them and the impact they’ll have.
First, I’m proud to have secured federal support to modernize rail maintenance for trains in our district, improve traffic circulation, and enhance pedestrian safety in commercial hubs in the community. Investing in our transportation increases safety and economic well-being by making local businesses and jobs accessible.
Another project that received funding is the Santa Clarita Valley and Antelope Valley Boys & Girls Clubs’ Opioid and Substance Use Prevention Initiative. This investment will help tackle substance use, strengthening families and giving kids the tools to make healthy choices.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Santa Clarita Valley Station also received an investment for a new mobile command center that will allow law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, and other agencies to coordinate effectively during disasters.
We were also able to support the relocation of the County of Los Angeles Fire Department Fire Station 81 in Agua Dulce, helping replace an aging facility which will improve our response times when fires break out across our region.
I also worked with the Santa Clarita Water Agency to provide support for removing dangerous PFAS, or “forever chemicals,” from our drinking wells. These investments help modernize our current systems, reduce health risks, and build a stronger clean water infrastructure.
All of these projects will make Santa Clarita a safer place to live. As your Congressman, I’ll keep fighting to ensure that federal resources are used responsibly and in ways that truly reflect the priorities of our communities. My goal is simple: ensure our district has the tools it needs to protect families, support first responders, and build safer communities.
