Assistance League Helps Students See 20/20
The icare for kids program was established in 2015 after Assistance League® Santa Clarita identified a critical need for student vision care in Santa Clarita Valley schools. The program assists students in all 50+ schools whose vision is affecting their ability to succeed in the classroom, and their families have no access to vision care. Students are referred by their schools for free eye exams and glasses.
By the end of January, Assistance League received over 120 vision care referrals from many of the five Santa Clarita school districts. Most of these students have already been scheduled for appointments with local optometrist, Dr. Paul Mikailian. When an optical need is identified, students are fitted for new glasses by the optical staff at Walmart. We want to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Mikailian and our supporters in the Walmart Optical Department.
icare for kids is one of nine community-based programs providing support to children and families in the Santa Clarita Valley. By shopping, donating or becoming an Assistance League member, you become part of our success story and make positive changes in our community.
