Get Involved With Relay for Life
For the organizers of Relay For Life of the Santa Clarita Valley, planning is in full swing. All of this preparation will culminate in Santa Clarita’s 28th Annual Relay For Life event on May 2, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.
In order to meet this year’s fundraising goal of $375,000, the American Cancer Society encourages the participation of community members and event sponsors. It’s not too late to start a team or join a team. There are many opportunities to take leadership roles in helping to organize the event. Volunteers are needed to fill important positions such as pre-event planning, facilitating event day activities, promoting the event and fundraising online, and providing logistics support for the event.
Sponsors also play a vital role in the success of the event, and Relay appreciates the commitment of community sponsors who partner with them. Affiliating with the ACS brand has been shown to generate a positive corporate image, improve customer loyalty, and increase sales potential. A variety of sponsorship levels and benefits are available. Whether a Luminaria sponsor, Survivor and Caregiver Village Sponsor, Patient Advocate Sponsor, or Program Book Supporter, these financial commitments make a lasting impact. For information about sponsorships, contact Abby.Smith@cancer.org.
This month, organizers are celebrating cancer survivors and caregivers. They are cordially invited to attend a dinner in their honor on March 14 at the Canyon Country Community Center. To attend the dinner, guests are reminded to register for Relay as a survivor or caregiver at scvrelay.org. Survivors will then receive an email with instructions to RSVP for the dinner. Organizers encourage the community to get involved with all of Relay’s social activities and fundraisers. For a list of upcoming fundraising events, visit www.scvrelay.org and scroll down to “event announcements.”
Be part of the movement that ends cancer as we know it, for everyone. Passionate volunteers working together toward a common purpose can ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
