Swing Into Spring with the Sierra Hillbillies!
Square dancing is more than just a series of steps; it’s a “team sport” where eight people work in unison. Members often cite the mental sharpness required to follow the caller and the genuine friendships formed in the “square” as their favorite parts of the club.
Since 1967, the Sierra Hillbillies Square Dance Club has been the heartbeat of our Valley’s social scene. For 58 years, this vibrant group has kept the tradition of American Square Dance alive, blending fitness, music, and a sense of community that is hard to find elsewhere. With a current roster of over 50 dedicated members, the club is a testament to the enduring appeal of the “do-sa-do.”
Whether you are a seasoned pro or have never set foot on a dance floor, the Hillbillies have a spot for you. They believe that if you can walk, you can dance. The club’s atmosphere is one of encouragement and high energy, led by experienced teachers/callers.
The Sierra Hillbillies are always looking for new faces to join their circle. In this digital age, the club offers a refreshing, face-to-face way to connect with neighbors and celebrate our Valley’s heritage. No partner is required to join—just a pair of comfortable shoes and a willing spirit.
