Tara: Retired Hollywood Star – Animal Tracks
Meet Tara, the capuchin monkey who proves that retirement doesn’t mean slowing down, it just means having more time to be fabulous and slightly dramatic! Tara joined Animal Tracks in January 2021 after retiring from a successful career in film, with roles in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Babe: Pig in the City. Yes, she’s a retired movie actress and Hollywood star, and she fully expects the respect that title deserves!
This spring, Tara will celebrate her 32nd birthday, though she clearly missed the memo about acting her age! She plays like a youngster, keeps everyone laughing, and has the kind of comedic timing you just can’t teach. Once an entertainer, always an entertainer!
Shortly after arriving at Animal Tracks, Tara was diagnosed with lymphoma. With guidance from our veterinarian, Tara now receives regular checkups, a healthy diet, and CBD oil as part of her care plan. The good news? Her condition has remained stable, and she’s doing wonderfully! She continues to thrive, and we’re hopeful she’ll enjoy many more happy, playful years at the sanctuary!
Tara’s personality is as big as her résumé. She’s curious, expressive, and endlessly amusing, often inventing her own games and clearly cracking herself up! One of her favorite things? Drinking straight from the water hose, which she treats like a luxury spa experience. Forget bowls or cups; hose water is clearly the gold standard!
Tara shares her home with Ember, her devoted companion and constant shadow. While mutual grooming is common among capuchins, there’s no question who’s in charge. Tara is the Queen of this duo, and Ember happily plays the role of loyal friend, offering affection and companionship without expecting anything in return.
Between her Hollywood history, playful spirit, hose-water obsession, and unmistakable charm, Tara reminds us that joy has no age limit. She’s living proof that even after the cameras stop rolling, a true star never leaves the spotlight, especially at Animal Tracks.
