The Boys & Girls Club’s Surgeon for a Day
The Boys & Girls Club teens recently visited USC for Surgeon for a Day, in partnership with Keck Medicine of USC, where they explored what it takes to pursue careers in medicine and healthcare.
Through hands-on experiences—such as practicing CPR and learning about the heart and lungs—students gained insight into the education, skills, and dedication required in the medical field. Opportunities like this help young people expand their perspective, explore career pathways, and imagine what’s possible for their future.
The Keck Medicine of USC Surgeon for a Day program was a resounding success thanks to USC, the incredible staff and students at the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, and the generous donors who made this experience possible. K–12 students were immersed in a day of real-life medical training, giving them a glimpse of what it takes to become a USC surgeon.
We hope this experience sparks lifelong inspiration—and perhaps even future physicians and scientists! For more information go to www.scvbgc.org.
