Relay For Life Team Captain Recruitment – May 2, 2026
On May 2, 2026, Santa Clarita will hold its 28th annual Relay For Life at Central Park— 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, 91350, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Organizers are currently recruiting team captains for the event and emphasize the importance of team leaders who raise funds and spread community awareness about Relay.
Team Captains play a vital role for Relay, ensuring that the American Cancer Society can continue its work to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. When leading a team of family, friends and co-workers, captains build a special bond among team members and lead the team to raise critically needed funds, celebrate cancer survivors in their own circles, and guide the team to have a fun experience at Relay For Life.
Top fundraising Team captain Kathleen Pavard says, “Encouraging and inspiring others as a team captain has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Letting those affected by cancer know that they are not alone, that they can be a part of a team that understands, brings me tremendous joy. We have an incredible group of people, and we have lots of fun!”
To assist new and experienced team captains to successfully build a team, ACS provides a Relay For Life Team Captains Kit. The Kit includes fundraising strategies, team recruitment tips, event preparation expectations, and access to digital tools like the ACS FUNdraising App. The kit also contains goal-setting worksheets, survivor registration details, and Relay Rewards information.
The Team Captain Guide is located at https://www.acsresources.org/relayforlife/teamcaptain/ and a physical copy can be obtained at Team Captain Meetings. Schedule and location of meetings can be found at www.SCVRelay.org or captains can also reach out to the Team Captains Council with questions at teams@scvrelay.org.
Laura Peach, a 26-year ACS volunteer, is not only a team captain; she volunteers as the Survivor and Caregiver liaison. Laura explains, “We at ACS want to show survivors and caregivers our encouragement and support. We celebrate them with our free Survivor Dinner and special Survivors area at Relay For Life which includes breakfast, lunch, goodie bags, and lots of love and information. At Relay, survivors can connect to others who have gone through similar experiences.”
We extend a special thank you to our presenting sponsor, UCLA Health, and to other dedicated sponsors including The Natural SKN Company and Shegerian & Associates. Sponsorships are still available for this event and can be initiated by contacting Abby at 661-855-4541 or Abby.Smith@cancer.org.
This year, get involved with American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Santa Clarita Valley. Help improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support. Start a team! Join a team! And participate in the fulfilling work of ACS.
