City Council Recognizes National Volunteer Month in Santa Clarita Volunteer Where You Live!
The City of Santa Clarita recognized April as National Volunteer Month. An impressive group of graduating high school student volunteers who have received the Civic Service Impact Award and members from Junior Chamber International of Santa Clarita (JCI) were recognized during the official proclamation from the City.
In 2025, the City had 2,707 individual City volunteers contribute 39,413 hours to the City through events, programs and projects throughout Santa Clarita. Our City volunteers play a vital role in many of the City’s most beloved events, including the upcoming Cowboy Festival, SENSES Block Party series and Celebrate events.
Beyond special events, volunteers support a wide range of ongoing programs and services. They work directly with the City with the Afterschool Homework Help Program at the Newhall Community Center and the Summer Reading Program at the Santa Clarita Public Library. They build and maintain new trails throughout our Open Space, coach and mentor athletes through Youth Sports and beautify our community by participating in workdays such as Community Hikes and Open Space Trail Cleanups. Our volunteers’ acts of service support the City’s commitment to make Santa Clarita a better place to live, work, and play.
Similarly, volunteers with JCI Santa Clarita help strengthen community connections while developing the next generation of local leaders through hands-on volunteer projects with local nonprofits, leadership development and civic engagement opportunities.
During the meeting, four of the City’s seven Civic Service Impact Award recipients were recognized. This highly esteemed award honors graduating high school students who have contributed over 100 hours in the past three years.
The City encourages residents to explore different volunteer opportunities and reflect on the importance of volunteerism in our City. For more information, please visit www.SantaClaritaVolunteers.com.
