Discover Summer in Old Town Newhall
When the summer sun begins to set in Santa Clarita, Old Town Newhall comes alive. Restaurant patios fill with conversation, music drifts down Main Street and residents gather to enjoy everything from live performances and outdoor dining to shopping and community events. There is an energy to Old Town Newhall during the summer months that feels both nostalgic and new at the same time.
As Santa Clarita’s premier Arts and Entertainment District, Old Town Newhall blends historic character with a vibrant and modern atmosphere. Whether you are looking for a relaxing evening out, a family-friendly activity or a place to explore with friends, Main Street offers an experience that is uniquely Santa Clarita.
One of the things that makes Old Town Newhall so special is its walkability. Visitors can spend the evening moving from one experience to the next — browsing locally owned boutiques, stopping for dessert or coffee, enjoying dinner on an outdoor patio or catching a live show just steps away. Every storefront and venue adds to the personality and charm of the district.
The area’s deep connection to film and storytelling also continues to shape the experience of visiting Old Town Newhall. From the Walk of Western Stars to historic filming locations woven throughout the neighborhood, reminders of Hollywood’s Western roots can be found around every corner. That history extends to nearby William S. Hart Park, where the William S. Hart Mansion has reopened for tours, giving visitors the chance to step inside the home of one of silent film’s biggest stars.
Summer is also one of the best times to experience Old Town Newhall’s lively event atmosphere. From live theatre productions and community gatherings to nightlife experiences like SENSES Block Party, Main Street regularly transforms into a hub of music, art and entertainment.
One of the biggest events of the year takes place on July 4. Thousands of residents will line Main Street, Lyons Avenue and Orchard Village Road to take in the patriotism and community of the SCV Fourth of July Parade. The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, featuring this year’s theme: “Celebrating 250 Years of America’s Freedom, its People, Places and History.”
Old Town Newhall continues to be a place where Santa Clarita comes together — honoring the past while creating new memories with every visit.
