Monthly Message from City Manager Ken Striplin – Celebrating Inclusion at FestAbility
The City of Santa Clarita is proud to continue creating opportunities for residents of all abilities to connect, participate and feel welcomed in our community. One of the ways we celebrate that commitment is through FestAbility, a free community event designed especially for individuals with special needs and their families.
This year, FestAbility will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at West Creek Park, located at 24247 Village Circle Drive. This event invites families from across the Santa Clarita Valley to enjoy a fun and inclusive afternoon filled with sensory-friendly entertainment, arts and crafts, recreational activities and interactive experiences. West Creek Park is the ideal location for the event, with its inclusive play area allowing children of all abilities to interact and engage.
FestAbility is thoughtfully designed to ensure everyone can participate comfortably. Music is played at lower volumes, event layouts reduce crowding and the venue is fully accessible for individuals using mobility devices. A dedicated Chill Zone will be available for guests who may need a quiet space to relax, featuring calming activities and supportive resources. Families can also meet therapy animals, enjoy live performances, explore adaptive sports and connect with nonprofit organizations that provide valuable services throughout the Santa Clarita Valley. Some of the highlights include live wrestling matches and an adaptive rock wall that allows participants in wheelchairs to reach the top.
FestAbility has quickly become one of the City’s most meaningful events, welcoming more than 1,000 participants each year. More importantly, it creates a sense of belonging, a place where individuals of all abilities can celebrate their talents, build friendships and experience the joy of community. We invite you to join us for this special celebration and experience the spirit of inclusion that makes Santa Clarita such a remarkable place to call home.
