Monthly Message from the Mayor Laurene Weste Get Ready to Unearth a Story through the Santa Clarita Public Library’s Summer Reading Program
Each summer offers a valuable opportunity for our community’s children to continue learning, growing and discovering the joy of reading. As Mayor, I am proud to announce the return of the Santa Clarita Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, which keeps young minds engaged, curious and inspired all season long.
Developing a love for books at an early age is one of the most important foundations we can provide for our children. Reading strengthens literacy skills, fuels imagination and builds confidence. When students continue reading over the summer, they return to school better prepared and ready to succeed.
Our Santa Clarita Public Library plays a vital role in making this possible. It is more than a place to check out books. It is a community hub offering a wide range of programs and activities for all ages. Throughout the Summer Reading Program, families can enjoy interactive story times, hands-on crafts, games, music and special events designed to make learning fun and engaging. Children, teens and adults can participate in reading challenges, track their progress and earn prizes, creating excitement and motivation around reading.
This year’s theme, “Unearth a Story,” invites participants to explore new ideas and discover stories in creative ways. From themed activities to engaging performances and family-friendly events, there are countless opportunities to stay involved and connected all summer long.
I encourage all families to take full advantage of everything our Santa Clarita Public Library has to offer. By making reading and learning part of your summer routine, you are helping your children build skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
Together, let’s inspire a lifelong love of reading and ensure every child in Santa Clarita has the opportunity to learn, grow and achieve their maximum potential. The Santa Clarita Public Library is here to help and make it fun to learn. For more information, please visit SantaClaritaReads.com.
