I am the owner of Oak Canyon Equestrian Center I have been in the horse business for many years.
I have raised several children both my own, my nieces, my nephews, cousins, etc. I have never found anything that keeps kids more grounded than animals. Horses give kids something to love that they feel loves them back. No strings attached. No alternative motives. No talking behind their back. Just love.
I can’t tell you how many times I found children in the stall with their horse telling them the horrible things that happened to them in school that day. Some things may not seem horrible to us but to them it’s huge. They will tell their horse things they will never tell anyone else.
Horses seem to bring us all back to what is very important in life. They take us away from all the differences in life and give us all something we can agree on. Somehow playing in the dirt is good for the soul.
Bring your children to our ranch for Summer Camp. It’s an experience they will never forget. There’s something very special about Oak Canyon.  People tell us all the time “I never knew something like this existed in Santa Clarita.”  Humans and animals of all ages find this property to be the most spiritual place to spend time.
