Your Home Doesn’t Need Less Gray. It Needs More Warmth – Liz Anne Designs
If you have a lot of gray in your home from the last decade, here is how you can incorporate warmer colors that will instantly make your home feel current.
#1 lighting swap. Swap cool white light bulbs to warm lighting, this alone softens the entire house. Don’t use cool white bulbs at all. They make your home feel sterile. When you replace those with warm lighting it instantly soften everything.
#2 introduce warm woods. Add walnut, medium oak or warm stained wood. You can do this through stools, tables or decor. Warm woods balance the cool finishes and immediately modernized the pallet with warmth.
#3 do a hardware refresh. Heavy chrome and polished nickel dominated the gray era. Today mix aged brass or bronze to shift the visual temperature of the home.
#4 use earth tone. By layering textiles you can instantly add earth tones. Choose camel, rust and warm neutrals. In corporate them by using pillows and rugs to bring warmth back into the pallet. These touches soften the cool gray everywhere look. This look that current trends are moving away from.
#5 strategic paint moments. When painting everything just is not a financial reality, paint a powder bath, an office or an accent wall in a warm neutral tone. Colors like taupe, mushroom, clay, or soften brown are luxurious choices. Or consider color on your ceilings in a slightly warmer tones to introduce deep depth without major disruption.
Homes don’t need to remove all the gray. They just need your balance with warmth. Think of your gray as a neutral backdrop, and then layer with warmth through woods, textiles, metals and lighting rather than trying to fight the gray with a large paint change if it’s not in the budget.
