Keeping Santa Clarita A Great Place To Live, Work and Play
Santa Clarita has built a reputation as a community where families can put down roots, businesses can grow and residents can enjoy an exceptional quality of life. As we look toward the future, the decisions made by local leaders will play an important role in preserving what makes our community special.
The upcoming election gives Santa Clarita residents an opportunity to consider the candidates who are seeking to serve our community in several important areas of local government.
At the city level, Denise Lite, Laurene Weste and Bob Khalsa are seeking seats representing Districts 2, 4 and 5. City leaders face a wide range of responsibilities, including public safety, infrastructure, development, local business, parks and maintaining the character of our neighborhoods.
Water is another issue that deserves attention. Bill Cooper, Maria Gutzeit and Ken Petersen are seeking positions with the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency. Ensuring a safe and reliable water supply requires long-term planning, responsible management, conservation and preparation for the challenges that can come with drought and continued growth.
Education is equally important to the future of our community. Candidates Joe Messina, Darlene Trevino, Bryan Biggers, Anna Griese, Cindy Hallman and Natalie Epstein are seeking positions involving local educational institutions. School and college board members have an important role in decisions affecting students, teachers, facilities, programs and the educational environment.
While national elections often dominate the headlines, local government has a particularly direct connection to our daily lives. Decisions made at City Hall, by the Water Agency and within our educational institutions can affect our neighborhoods, our children, our businesses and our community for years to come.
Santa Clarita continues to grow and evolve, bringing both opportunities and challenges. Maintaining the qualities that residents value requires thoughtful leadership, community involvement and an understanding of the issues facing the valley.
As Election Day approaches, residents have an opportunity to learn about the candidates, consider their experience and positions, and make informed decisions about who they believe should represent their interests.
Our community’s future is shaped not only by those who serve, but by the residents who take the time to participate.
