They Only Get One Childhood – Larry Grable
Every morning, parents across Santa Clarita watch their children walk through the school gates carrying backpacks almost as big as they are. We trust that on the other side, they will be safe, challenged, encouraged, and given every opportunity to become who they were meant to be. That trust is enormous because our children only get one childhood, and we only get one chance to get their education right.
Good schools don’t happen by accident.
That is why I am running for the Saugus Union School District Board.
I believe every decision should begin with one question: How does this help our students succeed?
For me, that means three commitments.
First, classrooms must be places where teachers can teach and students can learn. Safety means secure campuses, but it also means addressing disruptive behavior and supporting educators before problems become crises.
Second, academic progress must be measurable. We should know where students are succeeding, where they are falling behind, and act when the results tell us something isn’t working.
Third, every dollar matters. Our resources are limited, and I will ask the same questions I’ve asked throughout my career: What are we spending? Is it working? And is it advancing our mission?
We won’t always agree. We don’t have to.
But politics and personalities should never become more important than the children we serve.
Put students first. Support our educators. Demand results. Spend responsibly.
Because good schools don’t happen by accident.
We build them together.
