How often have you heard a song on the radio and instantly you recall a nice memory and your mood is totally altered? Music is magical and transcends age, race and nationality. At Ma Maison we originally had XM radio playing in the background but it soon became routine and monotonous, not adding at all to the eclectic vibe of the store at all – so we changed it.
At Ma Maison we hate to be stagnant, so, we decided to make drastic changes in the music we played with fabulous results! Customers sing along, inquire about the music, linger longer and the music generally puts everyone in a good mood. One of our friends and local artist, Jeff Cane, was a DJ in England so he had a very international music collection and felt our store would benefit from his mixing capabilities. Jeff burned us several CD’s with music from all over the world that were a smashing success. Daily we would have customers ask us what was playing and could they buy it! I too have traveled to several foreign countries and would always buy music, so I began making CD’s for the store as well, which led to all the employees contributing their favorite music.
Now at Ma Maison the relaxing eclectic music background has evolved into a wonderful selection of multi cultured and varying genre’s of music: French, Italian, Big Band, Electronic, Folk and much more, with new songs being added all the time.
Although we are asked daily from our customers how to buy the music, we cannot sell it because of copyright laws. But, as a token of appreciation for our customers and with Valentine’s Day upon us, we will give each customer who mentions this article a copy of our favorite Love Songs for 2010.
