Thanks to the popularity of television shows like Dancing with the Stars that will begin its 10th season this spring and the local fundraiser, “Dancing with Our Stars” coming up on April 24, ballroom dance is a hot activity.
Barbara Wright offers an inexpensive group dance class on Wednesday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. as well as private dance instruction upon request.  She emphasizes easy-to-follow dance sequences, proper technique, lead and follow, body position and movement, dance terminology, and most importantly, enjoyment.
Instruction is given in the Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Mambo, Rumba, Samba, Swing, Cha-Cha-Cha, Nightclub Two-Step, and more.  Instruction is $10 per class or by month, four sessions, $30.
Ms. Wright is a professional dance instructor and choreographer with formal training in several major dance forms who teaches ballroom dancing because she loves it!  She has 17 years experience, extensive achievements and credits in choreography, musical theatre, and wedding dance.

Dancing is something you can do all your life and is also good exercise and good fun that offers physical, mental, and social benefits.  In dancing, there is no generation gap.  So, even if you think you have two left feet, taking lessons will have you dancing and moving around the dance floor in no time.  Then, as you become gradually addicted (and you will!) you will find that you will want to continue your instruction.  Why?  Because in addition to fun and new friendships, you’ll gain learning experience in discipline, achievement, assuredness, and self-confidence.
For more information, call Barbara at 562-433-0253.  Classes are conducted at the Santa Clarita Senior Center, 22900 Market Street in the Newhall area.
