The liver is the most important organ we have when it comes to detoxification. Although it is a very resilient organ, we burden it daily with toxins from fast food, processed foods, alcohols, sugars, processed fats, prescription drugs and over the counter medications. The liver works in conjunction with the other organs and systems in the body to keep it working optimally. Some signs of liver toxicity include: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, digestion problems, weight gain, pot belly, cellulite, indigestion, abdominal bloating, IBS, skin problems, chronic fatigue, liver spots, hot flashes, depression and irritability.
To naturally detoxify the liver, there are quite a few things you can do. First of all, lemon, lime, grapefruit, garlic, cayenne, ginger, bitter herbs and leafy greens are very good for the liver. These foods promote liver cleansing. These foods should be eaten in their most natural state. The most important supplement for the liver is your EFA’s, your Essential Fatty Acids, such as Fish oil or Flaxseed oil or Udo’s oil. Anti-oxidants such as Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C and Glutathione are also very important for liver health.
It is also extremely important to avoid any compromising foods to the liver, such as, trans fatty acids, hydrogenated oils, imitation fats, refined sugars, artificial sweeteners, chemical additives, cigarette smoke, etc.
There are many different liver cleanses out there on the market and I recommend that you research before choosing the one you would like to do. Colon Hydrotherapy is very important in liver cleansing. By cleaning out the colon, you open the eliminatory pathway for all of your organs to release stored toxins. If your cholesterol is elevated, chances are you liver is not functioning optimally. We have a special protocol for cholesterol with a series of colonics that include coffee implants that have helped one client lower his cholesterol 75 points in one month.
