Turning the Page on 2020
As we embrace the holiday season and turn the page on 2020, we are looking back at this past year. Though it has been filled with challenges, it has also been filled with opportunities and for that we are so grateful.
2020 has tested us and made us really reflect on what we do and why we do it. We have realized what is truly essential and we have overcome challenges the likes of which have never been seen before. We have proven that we are resilient and the students at the Newhall School District have demonstrated how well equipped they are to adapt to rapidly changing situations.
When our students first started distance learning back in March, nobody expected it to last for the duration of the school and year and especially not into the following school year. However, the safety, health, and well-being of our students and our community is always our first priority so we did not hesitate to make the changes that would keep people safe.
As we navigated distance learning, our students were also learning new skills and they were able to use what they have learned in the classroom at home. Every day we teach our students to expect the unexpected and to be strong in the face of adversity, and this year they have shown us just how strong they really are.
From adapting to distance learning while learning new standards via Google meets, to staying focused on school work from their home, and not being able to physically interact with their peers, our students have made us proud. They have showed us that the lessons we teach really do resonate with them and what they learn at our schools is preparing them for life.
2020 has inspired us to be innovative in our teaching. Though interacting with students through a computer screen is not what we prefer, we are grateful that we have been able to still do that. We are proud of our students and their families for remaining eager to learn and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that each student is still receiving an award-winning education.
We currently have open enrollment into our distance learning program. To enroll you child and give them the head start in life that they deserve, contact Rosana Valadez at 661-291-4163.
