Beyond preserving your family’s memories for the generations to come, there is a fun, artsy side to scrapbooking inside you that is making cards, altered art or other off-the-page projects. I designed this photo tray to commemorate my trip to Ireland and England that can hang in my home or be given to my hosts as a great gift item. This project is suitable for beginners and those of you who have been crafting for years.
To make this project, you will need:
• 7 gypsies 4×6 Photo Tray in Black
• 6 pieces of paper, trimmed to 3 7/8” x 5 7/8”
• Coordinating paper with tags and journaling boxes
• Assorted black and white photos
• Die-cut letters (I used the Chemistry font by Quickutz)
• Catseye Chalk Ink in Chestnut Roan
• Prima E-line bling
• Prima butterfly & blue flowers
• Tim Holtz Glossy Accents and Crackle Accents
• Tim Holtz Fragments – Clear Tiles
• Tim Holtz – Sprocket Gears
• Tim Holtz – Philosophy Tags
• Melissa Frances – Metal Corner Accents
Instructions: Cut papers and adhere inside box using Glossy Accents. Apply Glossy Accents to the Clear Tiles and adhere to paper. Once the Glossy Accents is completely dry, cut paper from around tile to create original 3-d embellishments. I used these in tiles 3 and 4.
Apply photos and embellishments as desired. After adhering your die-cut words, use Crackle Accents on top to give a great crackle effect. Crinkle up your journaling strips and chalk with Catseye Chestnut Roan chalking ink to create an aged, rugged look.
Tip: Use a liquid adhesive, such as Glossy Accents, to assemble your photo tray so that pictures and papers will stay on long after the photo tray has been mounted on the wall.
I used Smooch Illuminate by Clearsnap to give my tags a little more sparkle and die-cut my pictures by hand to give the photos more dimension. Adhere Melissa Frances metal corner accents to the corner of the box. Stand back and enjoy your beautiful creation!
