The College of the Canyons Foundation will present the inaugural Super Wine Tasting Dinner on Thursday, May 13 at the Salt Creek Grille in Valencia.  This unique, superior event is notably different from traditional wine tastings.  Featured are wines from eight wineries, with emphasis on the comparisons of selected wines in several categories:
How does glass size affect your enjoyment of a good wine?  A delightful 2005 Hewitt Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will be tasted side-by-side in a large crystal glass and in a typical glass that might be found in a nice restaurant.  The results may surprise you.
Does country of origin make a difference?  Two fine Sauvignon Blanc wines will be offered—2008 Kim Crawford from New Zealand and 2007 Markham from the Napa Valley.
What about vintage year?  We will compare the 2007 and 2008 vintages of ZD Chardonnay, a brisk, well-balanced wine made from grapes from the Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Central Coast regions.
How different are similar varieties?  Find out when we compare two Napa red wines from Beaulieu Vineyards: 2005 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2005 Rutherford Merlot.
Of course, we can’t forget a dessert wine: 2007 Martin-Weyrich Moscato Allegro from California’s Central Coast region.
And with all this, there will be four courses of food specially selected and prepared to complement the wines.  Seating is strictly limited for this exceptional event.
All proceeds from this event will benefit the College of the Canyons Foundation Library Associates.
