At Double Trouble Wine Room, you get not one but two artisan wineries: Pagter Brothers Win-ery and Hoi Polloi Winery. Here you can drink comfortably in their casual tasting room with a neighborhood pub feel. The owners have adopted a “no snobs allowed” mentality so patrons came come and enjoy amazing, artisan wines from Paso Robles, Santa Barbara County, and Sonoma, made locally right here in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Whether tasting and talking wine and with the ever-present winemakers, sharing a bottle while enjoying one of the many excellent bands and musicians that the ex-music business proprietors bring in, or hanging out with friends on the spacious back patio, Double Trouble is a place where wine newbies and aficionados alike can have a great time while drinking high-scoring, award-winning wines.
“Our goal was to bring a bit of wine country to Old Town Newhall,” said Doug Minnick, co-winemaker of Hoi Polloi. “We know there are many people like us who love the fantastic wines of the Central Coast, but don’t always have time to make the trip to Paso Robles, Santa Ynez, Napa, or wherever. Now they can just come to Old Town Newhall instead!”
The Double Trouble Wine Room is the Southern California home of the burgeoning micro-winery movement that is sweeping the California wine world. These truly hand-crafted wines are definitely not supermarket wines – and you can taste the difference.
