“Shirley Checkos, award-winning wildlife artist, donated a framed painting titled Proud Eagle valued at $500 that was used as a prize for the passports created for the celebration at Centre Pointe Village Grand Opening Celebration party on March 26 and 27.
Checkos has been painting in oils for over 35 years; she conducts weekly art classes, and is treasurer of The Santa Clarita Artist’s Association (SCAA).  Wildlife has always been her inspiration and she meticulously captures the magic and details found in the animal kingdom.
“SCAA was so ecstatic to have an opportunity to showcase our art to the community as part of the celebration to spotlight the opening and the wonderful businesses in Centre Pointe Village,” said Sandy Fisher, past president and organizer.  “So many people complimented the art work and indicated a need for more visual art exhibits in the SCV,” added Fisher.
“In a time of economic hardship, when everyone is cutting back on spending, we are pleased to report that we had two sales art show held at this art show,” says Olga Kaczmar, publicity director for SCAA.
The two paintings that sold were: Cheri Marcovitch’s Joy, and Intensity by Hector Fernandez.
