Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital expects to provide Santa Clarita Valley residents with some of the most advanced state-of-the-art imaging capabilities in the Los Angeles area upon completion of an ongoing construction and equipment upgrade project.

“Once completed in early 2009, we’re going to have one of the most modern facilities in the region,” said Connie Hage, CRA, Director of Imaging and Cardiology.

One of the most highly-anticipated equipment purchases that will arrive at Henry Mayo is the 64-slice CT scanner, which will replace the hospital’s current single slice CT scanner.  The new CT scanner will enhance the capacity of images for the patient and physician needs.

“This multi-slice CT scanner gives a virtual tour of the body, providing a more robust, faster and reliable clear picture of the patient’s medical problems or conditions,” said Hage, “With this new fast scanner, radiologists and other physicians will obtain the information needed for their patient care in record time.”

Henry Mayo is also buying the Allura XPER FD20 Cardiac System, which will result in the hospital having superior imaging for procedures such as diagnostic heart catheterizations and a vast array of interventional special procedures.

“The new equipment’s imaging capabilities will be outstanding,” Hage said, “Minute vessels and arteries won’t go unnoticed.  Furthermore, new exams will be performed at the hospital that are currently not offered.”

Construction is also in process for a new Digital Fluoroscopy Room.  X-ray images will be created in this room, manipulated for quality and finished expeditiously.  The productivity will be outstanding with patient comfort improved as they will spend less time lying on tables.
Radiographic Rooms are also being built.  Once these new rooms are completed, digital radiography (film-less) will be used 100 percent of the time. Hage said, “There will be no need for cassettes and our PACS system will record the images.  Immediate information will be possible for the technologists to assure their exams are perfect.  As soon as the image is obtained and quality-checked, it will be sent off to the Radiologists and to the Emergency Room or ICU physicians for viewing, if needed.  The satisfaction of all customers will be outstanding. Within minutes, they will have images and results available.”
