On Monday, May 17, 2010, the Santa Clarita Artists’ Association voted in Olga Kaczmar as president. Outgoing president Alice Nelson has moved out of state. “I’m still keeping my post as publicity chair to keep the community posted of all SCAA art events,” says Kaczmar, “to achieve SCAA’s mission statement of Making Visual Art Visible in the community.”
Kaczmar was a graphic artist and advertising manager for 30 years. As a commercial artist, she had produced layouts and renderings for patent applications, ads, exhibits and brochures. Her computer-generated famine-genocide posters have been shown throughout USA, Canada, Ukraine, France, Australia, and United Kingdom. In 2007 and 2008, her art was used to promote a film and book on the Ukrainian genocide of 1932. She founded an international organization and maintains a web site to unite relatives and friends lost after World War II.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Communications: Electronic Media she continued taking classes in figure drawing, landscape and portraits. Currently, Kaczmar is devoting time to a more delightful side of art—drawing horses, dogs and cats; portraits of family and friends; using timeless tools such as
graphite, charcoal, oils, pastels, colored pencils, and watercolor. To view her work, see: www.olgakaczmar.com.
“This is a fun group,” says Kaczmar. “I urge other artists to attend the SCAA monthly meetings are held at the Westfield Town Center Community Room,” (located between JC Penny and the Food Court; 24201 West Valencia Blvd, Valencia. Non-members are welcome and may attend the first meeting for free.
