Contest Invites Transit Riders To Create Short Videos On Why They Love Transit

City of Santa Clarita Transit, Metro and 11 other Los Angeles County transit operators are sponsoring a video contest, Transit Flicks, to give transit riders the chance to show the world what they like about using public transportation. Entries will be judged on originality, believability and how well they convince others to try transit.
To enter the Transit Flicks Video Contest, simply create a video of up to two minutes in duration that explains how transit helps you and encourages others to try it. Judges will select finalists, which will be posted on the web in mid August. The public will then be asked to select the winners by voting for their favorite video. The deadline for entry is July 15.
“Many people in this City rely on our transit services everyday and I am sure that with all of the talent we have here, we are sure to receive a great video story,” said Mayor Laurene Weste.
The grand prize winner will receive a free EZ transit pass for one year, a vlaue of over $1,000. First runner up will receive a six-month EZ pass. A three-month pass will go to the second runner up. And five honorable mention winners each will earn a free one-month pass. Winning videos will appear on all participating agencies’ websites and shown on Metro’s Transit TV. Winners will be announced in early September.
