Betty Ferguson Foundation (BFF) book club, charmingly called B.A.B.E. (Books And Better Education), is a small group atmosphere designed to stimulate thought, share ideas and learn something new. Frequently the group will go to lunch after their morning discussion, and everyone is welcome to join! Mags Kelly, book club facilitator extraordinaire, brings these B.A.B.E.’s together once a month to review that month’s book club selection. The selections can be viewed on our website in advance.
BFF is a Non-Profit organization whose mission is to Train, Develop and Empower Women and Youth to be a Vital Force in Society. They have mastered several ways of doing this. One is this monthly Books And Better Education group that meets on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 10:30 am here in Valencia at Barnes & Noble.
The selection for July is: ‘Zeitoun”—a new work of nonfiction by Dave Eggers—It distills the sprawling chaos that followed Hurricane Katrina into a single family’s story. The narrative follows a Syrian-American contractor who navigates the postapocalyptic streets of New Orleans in a second-hand canoe, then mysteriously disappears for several weeks after armed officers take him aboard their boat.
No RSVP is required. All book enthusiasts are welcome! Should you have any questions about B.A.B.E or any other BFF event, please call 661-702-8712. BFF is located in the Valencia Industrial Center at 25510 W. Avenue Stanford, Suite 104 in Valencia. Visit them on the web at www.BettyFerguson.org or become a fan on Facebook too!
