With the brutal summer weather in full swing, it can be challenging to get Santa Clarita residents to leave their cool, air-conditioned homes. However year after year, Concerts in the Park has successfully persuaded the community to ditch the pool and head over to Central Park to relax and enjoy some excellent live music. The 10 part concert series kicked off on July 10 with Latin fusion group, Incendio and will continue every Saturday at 7 p.m. until August 28. On July 17, Platinum Rock Stars were the second band to perform and provided the audience with a classic rock superstar show featuring amazingly accurate covers of songs by rock legends, such as Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. The next week featured Fantastic Diamond, which took listeners on a musical journey through Neil Diamond’s greatest hits. Following Fantastic Diamond were The SCV All Stars, a group of local residents making a living in the entertainment industry. The band performed material that showcased their vast experience they have acquired over their long and successful careers. If you were unable to attend the July concerts, there is plenty of time left to join the fun! There are still four bands left to perform in August including: Zoot Suit Revue, Durell Coleman, California Transit Authority and Don’t Stop Believing. Each band specializes in a genre of music drastically different from the next, so make sure to arrive early and grab a front row spot at the park to hear them all!
