If You Liked Pirates of the Caribbean, join The Magazine of Santa Clarita Book Club. Do you love to read? Are you one that always has a passionate opinion about a book you’ve read? We want you! The Magazine of Santa Clarita in collaboration with Borders bookstore, Valencia is starting a book club. This month’s selection is a fast-paced exciting read, Captain Alatriste by Arturo Peréz Reverte. It’s a swashbuckling story about a former soldier and mercenary who becomes a hero of Spain’s 17th century Imperial wars.
Told through the eyes of an 11-year-old boy, it’s a novel that should appeal to men and women alike with the adventure that keeps a reader wanting more. Read it, write a review of no more than 450 words and email it to editorial@santaclaritamagazine.com. The best review will be published in the Magazine and the winning writer will receive a $30 gift card to use at Borders bookstore.
