A successful dinner-show fundraiser was held on August 29, 2010 at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Pascua in Westridge, Valencia.  The couple was featured in the April/May edition of the élite Magazine, explaining their advocacy for “Gawad Kalinga” project, which translated in English means to “to give care.”  It is an alternative solution to the poverty problem not just in the Philippines, but also in other parts of the world.  It’s a vision for a slum-free, squatter-free Philippines nation by providing land for the landless, home for the homeless and food for the hungry thus providing dignity and peace for Filipinos.
A very special night, beginning with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, music from Mr. Victor Roma, in the atrium, dinner from Rattlers, show featuring Ms. Stephanie Reese from Carnegie Hall and a speech from Guest Speaker GK Chief Financial Officer, Rick Munda.
More than 100 guests came to support this cause.  “Little did we know that we were in for an enchanted evening, listening to the voice of the lovely Ms. Stephanie Reese, a multi faceted singer of extraordinary ability, with a wide range of vocal styles, said GK advocate Rudy Mamaril.  She was quite impressive based on the extreme voice acrobats that go into an opera, ballad, and pop, theatrical music to Filipino folk songs.  She continues to sing her heart out for GK and has travelled all over the world to raise funds for this cause.  Local musician Alex Raymundo also serenaded the audience with his violin performance and impressionist artist Zony Gordon displayed her artwork.
A silent auction, put together by myself and Ms. Cielly Pagador was held to raise more funds.
All proceeds from this event go to GK.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who were behind the scenes to make this event a big success.
