The Sierra Hillbillies Square & Round Dance Club celebrated 43 years of teaching, dancing, and promoting our American folkdance in the Santa Clarita Valley with a dance on September 10. There were over five squares on the floor enjoying the calls by John Reitmajer and round dance cues by Cindy Mower; the club dances the second Friday each month at the SCV Senior Center.
Club members are also celebrating the first-time addition of their square dance lessons to the adult dance class offerings of the Santa Clarita Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. starting January 11, 2011, at Valencia Meadows Park, 25671 Fedala Road in Valencia. The instructor will be Rod Shuping.
