Linda Magara, Santa Clarita Valley Club winner of the Jane M. Klausman (JMK) Women in Business award, was presented with a check in the amount of $500 for the Zonta International (ZI) District 9 JMK award by Marianne Cederlind at the October business meeting.  Her application will be forwarded to ZI for consideration to receive one of twelve $5,000 scholarships.
Linda, a native of Kampala, Uganda and majoring in Business Administration/Accounting at The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, received $1,000 from the SCV Club in May 2010.  Volunteer activities include the Habitat for Humanity Youth Program, Noah’s Ark Babies Home serving orphans, and One Hope tutoring inner-city children.  She aspires to increase the financial literacy of her country through development of a financial literacy center, which will build curricula to teach children, youth and adults sound financial management.
The scholarship program seeks to influence business decisions that positively affect women by increasing the number of women in business management executive positions through the pursuit of undergraduate and master’s degree programs in business management.
