The Brittany Foundation Finding Their Forever Home – November 2023
A non-profit humane organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of homeless dogs, has several dogs for adoption.
MARLOWE
This feisty little fella was in a race against time in the South LA Shelter and in immediate danger of being euthanized before we were able to welcome him here to The Ranch. We were told he lived in one home for 11 years, and they surrendered him due to behavioral and medical issues. He’s been here for several months and is quite literally “the life of the party.” He is doing great with everyone, dogs his own size included, and takes no medication. He has energy for days, loves toys, and literally skips on his walks. If you are looking to add some pure joy to your life while giving a senior a second chance, he’s the guy for you. You can see more videos of Marlowe and all the pups here who are looking for their forever homes on our Instagram page, @thebrittanyfoundation. Please follow us.
SHEP
Would you look at him? Now for his story as we know it. He did have a home for close to a year, then he was re-homed to someone who lived 100 miles away, and somehow they lost him, and that’s how he ended up here. We thought we would be providing a safe spot for him while they came to pick him up, but they never called us back, and his original home, for whatever reason, could not take him back either. Oh, and did we mention he is a year and a half old? It’s clear that something happened to him, or maybe he was born with it, but his gait is a little off. He is taking two different medications and is doing great. He’s been wonderful with all of us, loves long walks and being outdoors. We think he is simply amazing!
ANDY
This beautiful Bichon mix was labeled a “Rescue Only” not too long ago at a county shelter before we were able to welcome him here. At first he was pretty shut down and scared but his personality is really starting to shine and he’s acting like a puppy. He has shown some tendencies to be nervous around men and new people so we are working on that. For the most part he is silly, playful, and loves attention. We think he would do best in an adult only home or a home with older kids. We think it may take him a visit or two with a potential family to make sure it’s the perfect fit. We do require visits here to our rescue in Agua Dulce, CA, and in-person home checks for all adoptions. You can see Andy’s journey so far in video on our Instagram page at @thebrittanyfoundation.
PUCK
His story is one of resilience and hope. After tragically losing his owner in a house fire, he was taken to the West Valley Shelter. Fortunately, another rescue recognized his sweet nature and reached out to us here at The Ranch to see if we could make room for him. Since arriving Puck has been a delightful addition to our southside crew. His youthful spirit shines through in his love for long walks, toys, and playtime with his furry friends. We estimate Puck to be around 11 years old, but his energy levels suggest otherwise. We believe he deserves a loving home where he can experience great love once again.
CHIP
This 80-pound bundle of cuteness was found abandoned on the highway with another dog. They were both taken to the Castaic shelter, where the other dog was adopted quickly, but Chip waited. He grew more and more stressed in the shelter environment and was in danger of being euthanized before we welcomed him here. He’s goofy, playful, and strong-willed. He’s about 2 years old and we are looking for an experienced adopter who can help him live his best life. You can get a much better picture of Chip’s charming personality by checking out videos of him on our Instagram page: @thebrittanyfoundation.
HOLLY
This adorable girl has been with us for 3 years! She was adopted as a puppy from another rescue, then returned to that rescue when she was 5 years old because they “started a family”. Then that rescue shut down, so we welcomed her here. She’s the perfect medium-sized dog, not a big fan of other dogs, but as sweet as can be with all of us. She is happy, independent, loyal, and loving; she just needs a chance.
BON BON
Corgi adjacent anyone? Well, we can’t be completely sure she is a Corgi, but she sure looks and acts like one with maybe some Chihuahua mixed in too. Not too long ago, she was on her final plea at a Los Angeles County shelter and in need of immediate rescue because she was labeled a medical case. It turns out that, after surgery to repair her ‘cherry’ eye, she is perfectly fine. We think she is about 6 years old. She gets along with other dogs her own size, loves attention, and is very affectionate. She is delightful and would make a perfect companion.
GEORGI
Look at this smiling beauty! She was left on a property to fend for herself when people moved. Our vet has estimated her age to be about one year old. We think she is most likely a Border-Aussie, which is a cross between a Border Collie and an Australian Shepherd. She certainly displays all of their characteristics. Georgi is smart, loving, curious, athletic, and would much rather be working than sitting still. She will need an adopter who understands her need to learn new things. She will do best in a home or on a ranch with room to run so she can reach top speeds during a zoomie session.
