As 2010 came to a close, the people of NorthPark were learning to listen to God.  Pastor Dave White did a fascinating series in the book of Mark during the Christmas Season called “Whispers of Wonder.”  Over the last four weeks of the year, we looked at four vignettes in the scriptures in which people were compelled by their faith to step out and trust God and expect Him to work in their lives.  Dr. White challenged us to be grounded in our understanding of God as He has revealed Himself in the Bible and not our own invention.  Once we know who God really is, we learn to recognize His voice as He speaks in our lives.  His loving guidance and counsel becomes something we listen intently for, because we know He is good.
As 2011 opens up before us, we are also listening to our people.  We will be listening carefully to find out where they are, what’s important to them and what they need addressed so they can be prepared for what lies ahead.  We listen intently to our people, and respond to them lovingly as we know God does to us.  We’ll be asking our people what they envision in terms of what they think God is saying to them.  Since we know we worship a personal God who speaks, we expect that He is working in us and leading us both individually and as a church.
At NorthPark, we envision representing God’s love to our people and to the people of the Santa Clarita Valley.  We look forward to seeing what God will do with folks who listen.
