Get ready to experience the American West at the 14th annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival to be held at the Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio, a location used for many famous Western films and T.V. shows, including The Lone Ranger, Wyatt Earp, Gunsmoke, Hopalong Cassidy, Rin Tin Tin and The Cisco Kid. Chuck wagons, corn-on-the-cob and cobblers are among the food offerings.
For entertainment, you can hear the best in music, comedy and poetry from Ginny Mac, Juni Fisher, Chris Isaacs, Doris Daley, Baxter Black, Don Edwards, The Sons of the San Joaquin, Cowboy Celtic, Wiley and the Wild West, Sourdough Slim, Dave Starney, Jon Chandler, Paul Zarzyski and many more. New to the festival will be the sounds of a musical trio, String Devils. Returning by popular demand will be equestrian master horseman and trick roper, Benny Martinez. Don’t forget to check out the Western gear and clothing featured by festival venders, just in case you need to add to your Western wardrobe. The festival was recently named the fourth best Western festival in the county by True West magazine, now in its 53rd year. Festival of the West in Phoenix, Arizona, Single Action Shooting Society End of Trail in Flounders Ranch, New Mexico and Fort Bridger Rendezvous in Ft. Bridger, Wyoming ranked above the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival.
If you choose to attend, you’ll be walking in the footsteps of such cowboy acting legends as Gary Cooper, John Wayne and Roy Rogers, who appeared in films shot at the Melody Ranch.
Look for additional venues for event activity during the festival running from April 25-29.
