February is the best month to watch romantic movies with your sweetheart. However, I believe some of the best love stories often slip by unnoticed. This lover’s season, be sure to give these not-so-popular movies a chance. You and your special someone will be glad you did!
People often overlook the British romantic comedy, Love Actually. The gushy flick directed by Richard Curtis includes actors like Hugh Grant, Keira Knightly, and Emma Thompson. It’s an interrelated mix about eight different couples getting by during the holiday season in London, England. Along with the lovely accents, the flick will have you smiling the whole way through. So grab your honey because, believe it or not, Love Actually is the perfect movie for Valentines Day.
If you’re a baseball fan, you’ll surely be a fan of Fever Pitch. Drew Berrymore and Jimmy Fallon’s chemistry is so inviting, you’ll be hooked from the start. When an obsessed Red Sox fan meets a workaholic, Cupid’s arrows are sure to hit. However, problems arise when the ‘love for the game’ becomes too much for the successful businesswoman. What happens next will have you clinging to your seat with excitement. Directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly hit a home run with this flick, so make sure to catch it as soon as possible!
Moviegoers seemed to miss one of the most genuine romantic comedies of 2009, Away We Go, directed by Sam Mendes. John Krasinki and Maya Rudolph star in the touching tale with such a raw chemistry you don’t find too often. The soon-to-be parents find themselves struggling to make ends meet for their future family. Six months into pregnancy, the couple travels around the U.S. in search for the perfect place to start a home. Through their odd reunions with family and friends, their discoveries along their journey help them come to terms with what a “home” really is. Mendes captures the rawness of love through the realities found in life. Check it out this Valentines Day!
Live in the moment with Queen Latifah and LL Cool J in Last Holiday. Latifah plays a shy, aspiring cook who finds herself ill after a CAT scan. With only a few weeks left to live, the woman quits her job, sets out on a dream vacation, and finally tells the man she loves how she feels. While dealing with her newfound sickness, Latifah’s character discovers the importance of telling your loved ones how you feel while you still can. It’s a definite feel-good movie to watch with someone close to your heart.
Travel junkies will love going abroad with Mandy Moore and Matthew Goode in Chasing Liberty. Moore plays an 18-year-old First Daughter who runs off around Europe to experience freedom away from her agents. Little does Moore’s character know that she has fallen for another agent, Goode’s character, who’s put undercover by the President’s orders. Viewers will love the bungee jumping, skinny-dipping in the Vltava River, and the constant running around these two lovers experience on their journey together. The film is a fun escape to enjoy with someone special this month of love.
This February, stray away from the popular route when watching romantic movies. Any one of these great films will set your heart afloat and your honey will enjoy watching it with you. Have fun and enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
