While High School Graduates could be singing the song, “Schools Out For The Summer” made famous by Alice Cooper, they most likely aren’t. But, what is for certain is Santa Clarita Valley students are getting a well-deserved break from studying.
Before the Valley students graduated, The Magazine of Santa Clarita presented 13 framed certificates to outstanding students nominated by their teachers. The plaques honored them as the SCV Cool Kids in the first of ongoing yearly honors.
Lisa Ann Capozzi, The Magazine of Santa Clarita’s Managing Editor conducted the presentation of honors to the students, including Danny Bengston, Jerrid McKenna, Allison Pagnotta, Alexandru Ivanescu, Dilshat Erkin, Dana Vaughn, Christopher Gonzalez, Edgar Wilson, Narayan Propato, Nancy Myers, Baileigh Jones, Daniel Osborn and Tatijana Semerjian.
Capozzi used the encouraging words of Oprah Winfrey during her speech saying, ”I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint—and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.”
She then quoted her favorite artist, Flavia who says, “Life is a series of new beginnings.”
It’s anybody’s guess who the 2008 SCV Cool Kids will be … time will tell.
