At Inner Circle Foster and Adoption Agency we find individuals who are willing and able to care for children when their parents are unable to do so. When a foster parent provides a loving home there is an opportunity to change a child’s life forever.
As a graduate student, I am required to attend numerous trainings. At a recent Inner Circle Foster Parent training, I heard many stories about the struggles foster parents experience. They spoke truthfully about the children in their homes, their difficulty to connect, the ambiguity that they felt as foster parents waiting to adopt, or simply the daily hardship of parenting. But then, with such hope, dedication, love and pride they all described the immense joy they felt when they began to see the child change; when they realized they were making such a difference.
Each foster parent is required to attend classes in order to gain a better understanding of the process, learn how children can receive guidance, praise, and discipline. It is incredible to watch members of our community come forward and help children. Due to high unemployment and various other family problems, there is a growing need for people who can offer assistance and help these children until age 21. These foster children need mentors, loving homes, and stability to flourish throughout their young adulthood.
