Rather, what will happen that weekend will change the lives of many living in poverty in the Philippines through the tireless efforts of Gawad Kalinga (To Give Care) to save five million families from poverty by 2024.
Hope Philippines is not one but two events with this goal in mind that will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 30.  The day begins at 6 a.m. with the GK Celebrity Golf Classic to be held at the Palm Valley Golf club followed by lunch at Desert Vista.  The Philippine Hope Ball will be held in the evening in the Grand Ballroom of the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be a celebration of a campaign where we hope to provide homes to 150 families in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City in the Philippines.
Some of the popular entertainers to perform are Bob Schroeder, conductor of FASO (Filipino American Symphony Orchestra), Stephanie Reese, Taboo and Apple of the Black Eyed Peas.  Senator Reid of Las Vegas, Nevada, Philippine Ambassador to the US, different Consul Generals in the US, Mayor JunJun Binay of Makati City, Philippines and Governor and Mrs. LRey Villafuerte are some of the dignitaries attending.
Our first fundraising was held at the Pascua’s residence at Westridge, Valencia last year.  It was supported by the generous residents of the city of Santa Clarita.
Gawad Kalinga’s mission: Ending poverty to five million poor families by 2024, land for the landless, homes for the homeless and food for the hungry.  It is not a work of charity but it is a mission of nation building and crusade for all Filipinos.
